Why do I like pillows so much?

Maybe it's because I like to take little naps, and I always need a pillow handy.

Sometimes to lay my tired head on and sometimes to put over my head to block out noise.

Pillow fights? Maybe.

Cozy comfy feeling they bring to a home? Yes.

They are an inexpensive and easy project? Definitely.

"I'm thank-you-ful for..."

Almost ready!

The house smells amazing.

Simple but pretty.

The ribbons are carefully arranged so they won't catch on fire :-) 

The jars look placed closer together then they really are.

My Dad and a few of my siblings and their families are coming over.

I am thankful for so much, there is no way to list it all.

Most of all I am thankful for my husband and children, and my God from whom all blessings flow.

And yes the blessings do flow unceasingly.

I am thankful for a little son who when asked what he's thankful for says...

"I am thank-you-ful for..."

So precious.

And I am thankful for all of you!

Sneak Peak - Kitchen

I told you we have been using lots of paint around here.

C - has just turned ten years old.

Oh how the time has flown.

I swear I was just here.

Sorry I've been gone lately. I have been super busy.

The things I have been busy with involve lots of paint... lots of it... gallons seriously.

Soooo posts for the next few weeks may not be super regular.

I promise that I will make it up to you.

But for now here is a quickie to get us excited.

It's getting to be that time!

When my house gets transformed into a winter wonderland.

I LOVE Christmas decorating.

I really wish it could stay up longer then a month.

I thought that a cute simple wreath to show off my aqua front door was in order.

The Reason for the Season

I have to give credit for this idea to my Aunt Susie.

She and I made some of these a few years ago and they have been one of my favorite

additions to my Christmas decor.

But, bad news. Curious little fingers have peeled off some of the letters. So I made new ones :-)

Beast and the Beauty

I now have a reading nook in my bedroom.

You don't get to see the whole thing yet because I am still working on the

finishing touches, but heres a sneak peek.

Feature: Thanksgiving printable

I love printables... almost instant decor.

But I hate designing them... or more accurately, I lack the appropriate software to design them.

So I always love it when someone does something I can just print out.

I love it, what a great idea.

Bucks - Reward system

I have tried many different reward systems with my kids.

But, most of the time in order to get them to do their jobs

I have to ask 3 or 4 times and both of us ending up frustrated and mad.

I even offered to pay them double if they did their jobs everyday....

I decided that they needed a more immediate reward.

I saw this idea on someone else's blog... but now I can't remember where.

So sorry anonymous super woman who I took this idea from.

I also kind of got the idea off of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" movie.

I made a "Bucks" system.

Each time they do a job, homework, or are being extra good etc. They get a "buck"

They can "buy" items from a tote with their "bucks"

It has been two weeks and this is working really well.

Who am I to argue with Abe?

I mentioned last week that Halloween was over, but book report season was just beginning.

Measuring the Moments

It seems like almost everyone is making a knock-off Pottery Barn measuring ruler.

And I have jumped on the band wagon.

So glad I did, it turned out great.

I made one years ago because we were moving a lot and I wanted to be able to

take our measurements with us where ever we went.

But it was ugly. I hid it behind the door in the laundry room and only pulled it out

when we did a measuring session.

Recipe: Homemade Bread, yes you can

When I got home from dropping my kids off at school I stepped out of my car and a heavenly scent enveloped me... Someone was making homemade bread.

(way better then the smelly socks that were bothering me in yesterdays post.)

I started salivating immediately.

Isn't fresh baked bread one of the most heavenly smells?

I'm Thankful For....

Let me begin by stating that I am thankful that we have a holiday to celebrate being thankful.

We take so much for granted in our lives and I love being able to reflect on how truly blessed I am.

In order to teach gratitude to my children I made a "Thankful" mobile on our dining chandelier. 

Haunted House

My husband grew up out in the boonies, so they didn't do a lot for halloween.

He is making up for that now.
