Excerpt - Note to Sister

This is an excerpt from a note I sent to my sister, usually we just chat on the phone,
but this time I was sending her something else too and I found myself rambling on.
I really liked what I said, it's kind of like a journal entry and I want to remember it so
here it goes on the ol' blog. Hope you enjoy!

DIY - Bunting out of Vintage Linnens

I took a break form the serious and had some fun.

I made a bunting out of vintage, hand embroidered linnens.

Handkerchiefs, pillowcases, table runners etc.
most of which I picked up at thrift shops.

I really don't think the various grandmas whose linnens I used would mind if I take their yellowed and stained embroidery pieces and make them live anew in something fresh and fun.

This is something that has all the more character because of the uniqueness of all the pieces.

The Rainstorm

It rained here this afternoon.

This may not be a big deal for some people, but it is for us.

This has been a really dry year in Utah and the dryness has caused fires and other problems.
Bad fires. Fires that have destroyed homes and thousands of acres.
Fires that have made me cry and pray for rain.

Today's rain-shower was spectacular!

Vintage Trailer Restoration - Part 3

We have been up to our eyeballs in trailer restoration.

I have been spending all of my free time working on it.

As well as time that isn't free.

Seriously my house is a disaster.

If you come over I will only let you in the garage,  and I will be a sweaty mess wearing the same gross painting clothes that I have worn for three days.

I actually don't think we have any clean laundry, so I couldn't get dressed if I wanted to.

One thing that has made this project particularly miserable is the heat.
I'm glad we were able to fit the trailer in the garage because
it's a few degrees cooler in there, but it is still really, really HOT.

I try and get the boys to help whenever possible.

I highly believe in boys doing hard manual labor.

I do it, my hubs does it, the kids gotta learn sometime!

A Wedding in July

This morning I got the boys dressed up all handsome because today was a special day.

It is Independence Day (one of my favorite holidays).

But today is also special because today my dad got married.

Ten Years of July Fourth's

I love the 4th of July.

It is one of my favorite holidays.

For 12 years I have dressed up the kids in red, white and blue.
I bust out my patriotic music and count my blessings.

I love my country very much.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
