Vintage Trailer Restoration - #2

We really want to go camping, but our trailer still has a long way to go.

So in order to inspire us to work on it faster I have made us a reservation at Yellowstone in August.

And by August, it's going to be as cute as can be!

But we really have our work cut out for us.

My Patriotic Side

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.

I get all nostalgic and sentimental thinking about this great country of mine.

Decorating for it is also pretty great.
Red, White and Blue!

Last year I found some vintage Independence Day postcards on ebay.

They are from the 1920's, and they are spectacular.

I just taped them up in random places.
I used blue painters tape so the tape would peel off easily.

I taped one on my kitchen cabinets, one on my faux window
and one on some empty decorative frames on my piano.

Sumer Survival

Having my kids out of school for the summer takes some planning.

Welcome to

Rachael's Summer Survival 101

We will cover 3 topics

Food
Responsibility
Fun

Food
My kids can really eat, so this is an important one.
When they are not in school they tend to graze all day long.... in addition to eating 3 meals a day.

It can get expensive, and it's not healthy.

In order to temper their snacking I have devised a plan.

I bought some snacks, which is exciting for them because
I never buy snack foods.
If I buy a box of cereal (or cookies, chips etc.) it is eaten in a few hours.

Problem #1 it is too expensive to buy snacks when they don't last.
Problem #2 it is unhealthy for the boys to eat that much at a time.

So I have devised a plan.

I divided up the cereal, pretzels, crackers etc.
into appropriate portion size servings and put them into bags.

A Fishy Story

Chad went deep sea fishing in FL with his brother last week.

I don't think they had any fun. (*wink)

This fish is a Tarpon
54 inches over 50 lbs.

It pulled the boat a 1/2 mile and it took Chad 45 minutes to reel it in.

Sadly this is a sporting fish and he didn't get to keep it.
But at least he got a really cool-looking picture.

Ready for summer! I hope.

School is out!
I love the summer months,

My little guy finished kindergarten. That means that next year he will be in school full time.
(Kindergarten is only 2 1/2 hours long here.)
I am happy for him, but I am sad for me.
I will really miss having a little buddy with me all day.

And he really is so fun to hang out with.

Bring your Family to Work Night 2012

A few weeks ago it was
"Bring your family to work" night at my husbands workplace,
which is Delta Airlines.
My hubs is one of the guys that fixes the planes.
The official title is AMT.
Which stands for Aircraft Maintenance Technician.

And he is really good at what he does.
And it was fun to meet some of his coworkers who he tells me about everyday.

I used this as an opportunity to craft of course.
I take any chance I can ;-)
And I made t-shirts for all of us.

(I used my silhouette and cut out some heat transfer to iron on some t-shirts.)

The kids think these shirts are the coolest ever and wear them whenever they are clean.

Sponsor: Quaker Soft Baked Bars

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Quaker Oats for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As a busy mom I often need good snacks for on the go.

I usually keep nuts and granola bars in my purse should I need to satiate my hunger or that of a child.

Munching on a little snack is so much better then impulsively hitting the fast food joint.

Quaker Soft Baked Bar

So Quaker asked me to check out their new wholesome food Soft Baked Bars.

They are made with real fruit and nuts so it's the perfect snack.

Another bonus you can warm them up in the microwave for a yummy hot breakfast snack.

Sounds like a great idea when we are running late for school in the morning.

They are packed with

140 calories

5g of fiber

6g of protein

And, they are a great source of 5 B-vitamins

They come in two flavors which are,

Cinnamon Pecan Bread or Banana Nut Bread.

I will admit that I am a sucker for pecans.

But I love banana bread too so I think I will just have to try both of them.

I can see my whole family enjoying these.

I think I should get my husband his own box to keep at work so he’s not tempted by the vending machines ;-)

So be sure to check out these links and add this item to your grocery list.

Thank you to Quaker for continuously coming out with great food that is healthy and tasty too!

Thanks,

Rachael
