Pumpkins and other things

We grew pumpkins in our garden this year.
I do say it was quite successful.

Last year we had a HUGE pumpkin plant, but it only grew one enormous pumpkin.
I thought it would be more wise to plant regular sized pumpkins this year to avoid fighting.
These are the perfect size for carving too.

One big pumpkin vs. nine smaller pumpkins.
We definitely got more out of our watering bill planting the smaller sized pumpkins.
We have nine pumpkins, and two very excited little boys and two sort-of excited bigger boys.
Such is life.

Kids Craft: Fall leaf stained glass

Here is a quick project to do with the kiddo's to get your Monday going.

It is perfect for the autumn chill I feel in the air today.

Fall leaf stained glass.

First you need to take the kids on a little walk and collect colored leaves.

Fall Decorating - I'm at it again

I'm at it again, bustin out my red, orange and yellow things.

My mantel looks pretty much the same as it did last year,
so I won't show you that again.

Why change a good thing right?

But last year the piano in my front room was not so fabulously decorated.
I was able to remedy that this year.

I found that fantastic basket made of branches at a thrift shop for $2, SCORE!

BHG! Can it get any better?

Awesome news people!

My fall mantel has been featured on Better Homes and Gardens website.

Did you hear me? BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS!

Such a dream come true.

Here is what they show.

Stop by and check it out along with the other lovely mantels.

And HERE is the link the the actual post where I designed this.

And HERE is the link where I talk about making the sunburst mirror
that really makes this mantel extra nice looking.

Did I make those link lines big enough so you can't possibly miss them? Good!

Get in the mood and start coloring your house orange, yellow and red too!

Thanks!

I'm Thankful For....

Let me begin by stating that I am thankful that we have a holiday to celebrate being thankful.

We take so much for granted in our lives and I love being able to reflect on how truly blessed I am.

In order to teach gratitude to my children I made a "Thankful" mobile on our dining chandelier.

Autumn Pillow

Writing this blog has been great for getting unfinished projects done.

I started this project a few years ago.

A Walk in the Woods

One evening earlier this week we decided to skip homework and go for a little hike in the mountains.

CM was at work so it was just me and the boys.
Which was nice because usually he takes the kids on hikes when I can't come.

Fall Wreath and Aqua Door

This is my door decorated for fall....

Yes, I am aware that my front door is aqua. Some people don't understand why I painted my front door aqua.

If you don't understand, that's ok, I won't hold it against you.

(Ok, really I have one neighbor who thinks that I am completely crazy for doing this,
everyone else seems to like it.)

If you do understand, then we are truly kindred spirits. *wink*

I figure most people that look at these kind of blogs are kindred spirits.

The big pumpkin is real, more about that here. The little one is not real, but hopefully
I will be replacing it with a real one soon. :-)

I just made the wreath out of stuff I had laying around. But it was a little dangerous.

I didn't think grapevine wreaths had thorns... Ouch!

Thanks! - RM

That's a Pretty Big Pumpkin

This is our first year having a "real" garden. I've attempted to plant stuff before... but those poor plants never stood a chance.

But this year, SUCCESS! We have loads of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and... a big pumpkin.

A 40 pound pumpkin to be exact, it weights more then my 5 year old.

The kids are really excited about it so I took some pics and we had some fun with it.

I could "Fall" in love...

I love decorating for the fall.

The “Anne of Green Gables” in me comes out in me and I am not quite all here.
I become "enraptured" in the gorgeous colors.

My imagination is taking me on walks through orange, red and yellow woods. I could just sit and gaze at the beauty of the changing season and be lost in my thoughts...

See I’m doing it now.

I love the crisp air, the warm days and cool nights. I love the colors especially.

I do have to come back to earth sometimes. I have four little angels that keep me grounded here. *smile*

So I need to bring the beauty of autumn into my home.

Let's talk about my fall mantel.

**Update, this fall mantel was featured on Better Homes and Gardens website HERE**

Total dream come true!
