I'm Thankful For....

Let me begin by stating that I am thankful that we have a holiday to celebrate being thankful.

We take so much for granted in our lives and I love being able to reflect on how truly blessed I am.

In order to teach gratitude to my children I made a "Thankful" mobile on our dining chandelier.

I thought I would have to pester the boys to write things down but they sat
and filled a whole bunch out right there after dinner.

I was worried that I would have to go scrounge up
more paper and cut out more leaves.

I used my Silhouette to cut out my leaves.
But I saw some pre-cut at a craft store, or you can cut your own.

I just strung some clear string around the light fixture and we hung them with paper clips.

Good times good times.

They were grateful for things like our dog, food, friends, cars, farts... yea, you read that right.

I have four sons, it gets pretty smelly around here.

I spent a good part of the afternoon today searching for the source of an unusual smell.
I was pretty sure the smell was dirty socks... but whose? That was the question.
I ended up sending them all to the shower and taking all their clothing directly to the washer.
But sometimes I wonder if I really got rid of the smell, or have I just gotten used to it?....

Sorry, these are my musings at 11:00 at night.

You can always tell when I'm really tired when I write a post because I ramble.

Usually I write my posts at about 9:00 after the kids are in bed, but tonight I had an Abraham Lincoln costume I needed to finish. Yes, Halloween is over, but book report season is just beginning.

More on Abe next week.

Back to gratitude.

I am grateful for farts also because they make my children laugh.

I am also grateful for smelly socks because that means cute little feet that created that awful stench.

And I just love those cute little tootsies.

Actually the feet that made that smell are now bigger then my feet. But I remember those same feet kicking inside my belly, pattering across the floor, pedaling a bicycle... Now they are usually more slow and deliberate, but they are carrying my good, sweet, thoughtful, handsome boy.

I am grateful that other little feet still patter across the floor.

I am grateful for being a mother.

Thanks for sharing this sweet idea! I think I will have to make this a family tradition. It must look so pretty as it starts filling up!
