A Trip to the Principal's

A few days ago I got a call from the school principal regarding my six year old son.

He had been in a fight during recess.

"Did he win?" You ask, at least thats what my husband asked.
No not really.

He had a disagrement with another boy so this boy pinned my son down and sat on his head.
In order to dislodge this boy from his head my son began to hit and kick.

I can't say I blame him, I would have done the same.

But in all fairness the principal had to notify us of the altercation and Todd's part in it.

He looks so innocent doesn't he?
This is something he wrote a little while ago on our sidewalk to welcome some visiting family.

In case you can't see it it says,
"WEKUM TO OR HAS"

Translation: "Welcome to our house"

Anyway back to the fight.

The next day Todd came home with this note written by this "head sitter" kid.
This was just too cute and funny.
I think we will all forgive our little "head sitter" for now.

New Flooring. Yay!

The new flooring in our kitchen and front room is done!
We still have to install trim and do some touch up painting but we will get to that... I hope.

I talk more about how this all happened here and here.

"Who snores through a play?"

Last night I dreamt that I was in a theater watching a play. I love going to plays so this was really exciting for me. All of a sudden in the middle of the play someone started snoring really loudly, so loudly that I couldn't hear the actors. After a few minutes of this I started to get mad "How Rude!" I thought "I don't know how the actors can concentrate." The people seated around me were complaining about it too. After a few more minutes I had had enough and I began walking around the theater trying to find out who was snoring so that I could wake them up. I had paid a lot of money for my ticket after all, and I wanted to hear the play. I finally found who it was and I tried to wake them up, but they wouldn't wake. About this time I woke up (in real life) and I realized that my good husband was snuggled up next to me snoring right in my ear.

Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks,

Recipe: Enchilada Soup

I have been having a few people telling me I need to post more "Like you used to Rachael."

I would love to post more, but this blog is a hobby and I don't want to be overwhelmed by it.

I enjoy writing this blog and I want to keep enjoying it.

That being said, there are a few reasons posting has been slower... well one really.
I am back in college!

My baby is in school full time and I decided that I should be in school too.
Time will pass whether I do something with it or not so I might as well finish my education.
I am studying graphic design, and I am having so much fun doing it.

My order of priorities:

Family

School

Not going crazy and overwhelming myself

Blog

And of course God & church are integrated into these things... mostly the top 3 ;-)

But today since I desperately need a break from a HUGE assignment I have been working on...

Let me digress and talk about my assignment for a moment. I need to vent.
I have to give a 3 hour speech about the proper way to give a speech. Power point is kickin my butt. Each student has to do this. My professor just divided up the chapters in the book, according to how how many class days there are in the semester and assigned each of his students to give a presentation during class time. The professor sits off to the side and watches. Did I mention that my presentation is three hours long? THREE HOURS! Do you have any idea how many power point slides that will require? So far I'm up to 42...

Whew! now I feel a little better.

Now on to the real subject of this post:

I have a recipe for you.

A yummy, hearty soup recipe that is perfect for these nippy autumn days.

I got this recipe from my Aunt Susie who lives far away but whom we love to visit.

This is so incredibly good.
I cannot emphasize its goodness enough.
It is chock full of veggies and other healthy stuff too!
Ok now I'm hungry.

Lunchbox muffins and biscuits

Someone asked me the other day what I pack my kids for lunch.

Pretty much the basic stuff, juice box, cheese stick, pretzels, treat etc.
But my kids do not like sandwiches.

Unless they are deli-meat sandwiches, but the amount of meat and cheese these sandwiches require makes it unreasonable to make them often.

One of their favorite things to bring are these lunchbox muffins and biscuits that I make, and the recipe is 100% made up by me.
But I'm not selfish, I will share with you.

Operation "New Floor" is in full swing.

How this came to be is here.

It is gorgeous.

So I came home....

So I came home today to this.
I guess the hubs had some energy to get out.

I am excited, this means that the wood flooring that has been sitting in our garage
for 9 months will be put to good use....

The only problem is I just went grocery shopping today and I always "nest" in the fall.
Meaning I feel like cooking and cleaning etc.
All of our meals planned for this week are kind of "involved" cooking-wise.
I need my kitchen.

I guess I will haul all the groceries in my car's trunk down to the deep-freezer
and maybe go back to the store for pb&j supplies, microwaveable food and paper plates.

One last problem, I have been home 30 minutes and the hubs is no where to be found.
I just hope he turns up soon... with the wheelbarrow and shovel maybe.

(On a side note, did you know that "wheelbarrel" is incorrect?
It is in fact spelled "wheelbarrow." The things I learn whilst blogging.)

So now I'm wondering what to cook for dinner since I will not be cooking lasagna tonight!

P.S. I am also posting this as irrefutable proof, that I am not the only
one in this house who is impulsive. Haha I have PROOF! It's not just me.

****UPDATE****

So I left again and I came home to this
My fantastic boys have picked up all the tile and hauled it out to the trailer
so we can take it to the dump.
And now they are prying the screws out of the sub-floor.

My kids are amazing.

Just amazing.

I think we will just go out to dinner instead, they deserve it.
